Established in 1975, L.I. Smith & Associates, Inc. is a professional company that was converted to a corporation in 1996. Through the years, L.I. Licensed in thirteen (13) states in the central and southeast region, our service area includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

L.I. Smith provides prompt, efficient, and cost effective services as is witnessed by the many projects we have successfully completed over the past 40 years. Surveyors in our Transportation Division specialize in construction stakes, lines and grades for a wide range of highway construction projects. Our experience in the transportation industry includes providing construction staking on over $1.55 billion in highway projects, relating to over 610 miles of roads and bridges. L.I. Smith’s team of certified inspectors and program managers for roadway and bridge projects include Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) specialists as well as TDEC certified Erosion Control specialists. To date, our team of professionals has provided assistance on twenty-two (22) CEI projects across the state of Tennessee.
L.I. Smith’s Land Surveying Division provides property boundary and topographic surveys and has extensive experience covering large tracts of land. Over the past five years, L.I. Smith & Associates has completed a total of over 1,200 land boundary surveying projects. L.I. Smith has completed 150 boundary surveys for the State of Tennessee as prequalified surveyors for the Tennessee Department of General Services. L.I. Smith has provided land boundary surveys to several federal agencies including USFWS, NRCS, USACE, and TVA. Recent multi-year ID/IQ contracts have been completed with the USFWS covering portions of Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee as well as (3) separate ID/IQ contracts with the NRCS covering the states of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
