Safety Services

Members of the L.I. Smith team have completed a total of over 300,000 hours without an accident. As a result of our performance record, the Tennessee Road Builders Association presented L.I. Smith & Associates a safety award for its outstanding performance for the past five consecutive years.


L.I. Smith & Associates, Inc. has on staff a qualified Health and Safety officer whose responsibility includes establishing procedures to protect the health and safety of  L.I. Smith workers on each of our project sites. To accomplish this, L.I. Smith provides online as well as in-house training for HAZWOPER safety training certification.


All employees are required to complete 12 hours a year, with an additional 8 hours a year to maintain certification. L.I. Smith & Associates currently has 12 individuals within our Survey and GIS division that are HAZWOPER certified. The majority of our team is certified in First Aid as well as CPR.


Safety Training at L.I. Smith & Associates includes: Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical Awareness, Confined Space Entry, Decontamination, Emergency Procedures, Hazard Recognition, Medical Surveillance, OSHA Regulations, Personal Protective Equipment, Radiological Hazards, Respiratory Protection, Site Control, Site Characterization, Toxicology, Air Monitoring, Slips Trips Falls, Work Place Violence, Heat Stress, Cold Stress, and Fire Safety.
