Civil Engineer
L.I. Smith & Associates, Inc. (LIS) is seeking an entry level Civil Engineer to join our Paris office.
The Civil Engineer will work closely with a Professional Engineer to plan and design a variety of land development projects with major tasks such as stormwater management, environmental permitting, and utility design. Projects and tasks will involve the use of various software programs including Civil3D, AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Office applications.
An ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and will thrive in a team-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Computer-aided design and drafting of site layout, drainage, roadway, grading, and utility systems using software programs such as AutoCAD and Civil3D
- Perform independent design tasks and organize drawings while receiving supervision
- Review designs, write reports, and complete calculations to assists in producing final designs
- Meet project schedule requirements and deadlines
- Perform site visits and prepare associated field reports
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and workforce to resolve project challenges and conflicts
Qualifications:
- Desire to grow professionally
- 3-5+ years of Engineering experience
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to collaborate and be a team player.
- Critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and plan ahead
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Preferred:
- E.I.T. or P.E. certification
- Experience with land development projects
- Experience working with State and Local agencies
- Previous internship experience with a related industry is strongly preferred
- Experience working AutoCAD or Civil3D
